How do I setup a new image file?

If you are setting up a image file from scratch (in Photoshop, for example), use this guide to find the optimum image file resolution. If you're sending us film or prints, don't concern yourself with file resolutionwe'll scan the artwork for you.

If you already have a digital file (from a camera, scanner, etc.), check it with our File Size Guide instead of using the information on this page.

Select your material choice in the left column and read across for the optimum resolution. Then use the resolution figure to setup your image file.

ppi means pixels per inch of actual printed surface.

See the Learning Center's Artwork section for specific instructions on setting up the file.
